My work references a cinematic aesthetic in order to create a bond between film and painting. This process enables the creation of analogies between both mediums, which in turn act as the roots or source of inspiration for the different projects.
Based on the different levels at which time acts both in painting and the cinema, my work often attempts to capture time, playing with the notion of imprisoning memories, or even creating new ones. In more recent projects, painting’s timelessness plays with the immersive experience created by the cinema in order to create a new experience for the viewer. The intention is no longer to capture time within the represented image, but to create a paradoxical timeless and time-based viewing experience.
